United States Navy SEALs trident

“[…] My Trident is a symbol of honor and heritage. Bestowed upon me by the heroes that have gone before, it embodies the trust of those I have sworn to protect. By wearing the Trident I accept the responsibility of my chosen profession and way of life. It is a privilege that I must earn every day.”

- Excerpt from the Navy SEAL Ethos

Hi, I’m Clay Markle.

A Navy SEAL with his woman wearing a military uniform with medals, sitting and smiling at an event.

Former Navy SEAL, lifelong waterman, and Long Beach family man.

Born as a 4th generation Long Beach resident, I grew up on the water, sailing through Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, Leeway Sailing Center, and Wilson High School Sailing team (5th in Nationals my junior year). I also spent time surfing up and down the coast from San Diego to Humboldt, with stints running an underwater hull maintenance business in Santa Barbara.

It was only a natural step to join the US Navy after 9/11 where I spent 6 years with SDV SEAL Team 1 based out of Honolulu Hawaii, spending even more time in and under the water across the globe deployed on submarines and leading SEAL dive training exercises.

After the Navy I moved back to Long Beach with my wife Cat, where we started the 5th generation of Long Beach little ones, fueling an ever increasing desire to spend time on the water. This led to the tipping point to get back in the water as a way of life… as the Frogman.

Look for us around town with our two daughters and pirate dog, a springer spaniel named Frida, who lost an eye in a Tijuana knife fight… (with her surgeon). You can find us strolling 2nd street, paddling out to spend time in the sand on the Peninsula, or lobster fishing on Frog Force One. If you see us, say hi!
